Top 10 Dream Jobs in 2011

A dream job can be something different for everybody. Perhaps you are attracted to the glamorous lifestyle, fast times and flashing lights of a celebrity. Or maybe your dream job involves working behind the scenes to make something that people enjoy such as movies or video games.
Whatever your dream job may be, very few people actually attain one in their lifetime. Sometimes you can’t afford to take the pay cut to do what it is that you really love, and sometimes you have neither the connections nor the resources to realize your true vision.
Attaining the American dream job (whatever that may be) takes hard work, dedication and a never-give-up attitude to make it big. The American Dream is not dead, and neither is the American dream job. But it definitely takes a lot to get there, so you have got to keep at it.
There are a lot of dream jobs out there. Here are some that ranked at the top this year:
Music Star – This job is definitely not for everyone. You have to be able to go hard, sometimes involving lots of late nights, hours without sleep and a whole lot of time crammed in tour buses and hotel rooms. But once you get past the initial few years and hit it big, the rewards are endless.
Actor/ Actress – Some people describe it as “getting the acting bug” when they first decided to get into acting. This is also known as enjoying a lifestyle that is fun, requires minimal hard work, is admired by millions and you are constantly surrounded by beautiful people. Who doesn’t have the acting bug?
Professional Athlete – Not everyone is a natural athlete. But for those who are, getting paid big bucks to play a game you love and have thousands of fans is the life of choice. If only intramural sports were awarded as much as the pro leagues…
Poker Player – Again, another profession in which you receive millions for playing a game you love. You also get to wear shades, and kick back cocktails – kind of like being a rock star, except you get to sit down!
Travel Advisor/ Vacation Tour Director – For those who love to travel, and this seems to be pretty much everybody, getting paid to do so and tell others about it is the ideal lifestyle. Seeing the world, writing about it and making a living – who wouldn’t want to be Anthony Bourdain?
Ice Cream Creator/ Food Scientist – People who invent new flavors of ice cream are food scientists. The formulas involved might not be as complex as advanced chemistry, but there is a science to it. The really tough part of this job is not getting super fat!
Concert Promoter – Getting paid to check out awesome music, living the nightlife on a daily basis, and being able to hook up your friends with backstage passes – what more could you ask for?
Brew Master – Who doesn’t like beer? Well I guess there are some out there, but for the most part it’s something people seem to enjoy. And what better way to spend your days than sampling and perfecting ales for the whole world to love?
Toy Creator – There is a way to keep playing with toys through adulthood and not be made fun of – being a toy creator! Toys are cool, don’t deny it.
Radio DJ – There’s something about having control of the mic that is fulfilling and exciting. Everybody wants to play DJ, and when you do it at a radio station, you’ve got thousands of listeners hanging on your every word.
Whatever your dream job may be, don’t give up. Sometimes dreams change, or sometimes we just change to make our dreams come true.
